DERMOT KEYES REPORTS

I've worked in Irish regional journalism since 1999 in both print and radio and have also contributed to a range of other regional and national publications/broadcasts across news, current affairs, sport and the arts. This is my blog - and you're very, very welcome! 

DERMOT'S BIO

A native of Portlaw, County Waterford, Dermot is a journalist and producer with KCLR96FM (covering Kilkenny & Carlow), having previously worked as PR & Communications Manager with Green Acre Marketing (2023-25).

 

In print journalism, Dermot served as Deputy Editor of the Waterford News & Star from June 2019 to May 2023, having worked as reporter, News Editor & Chief Gaelic Games Writer for The Munster Express from 1999 to 2019. He is also a regular contributor to a range of national and regional outlets, including DBA Publications (GAA & Rugby Union).

 

A Dublin Institute of Technology (TU Dublin) Journalism graduate, Dermot has also presented radio programming on both Beat 102-103 (2005-2011) and WLRFM (2017-2018) while contributing to RTE Radio One and Today FM. Dermot is co-author of four books - 'True Blue: The Alfie Hale Story (Choice Publishing, 2025), 'Power: A Family Memoir' with Richie Power Jnr and Richie Power Snr (Hero Books, 2023),'Kings For One Day: An Autobiography' with Martin Og Morrissey (Hero Books, 2022) and 'I'm Fine: Thoughts on Life, Addiciton, Love and Health' with Enda O'Doherty (Red Stripe Press, 2020). He was also editor and main contributor to the Carrick-on-Suir RFC Centenary Souvenir (2023)

 

Dermot has also performed in musical theatre, drama and concerts since his mid-teens, primarily in Waterford and South Tipperary. "I've always loved the power of community, the joy of storytelling and am a life-long believer in the power of optimism. All three have been hugely significant in both my writing and broadcasting career and long may that remain the case!"
